Green glass restrung from "beads in bags" given to me by my sister's mother-in-law Frances who had an amazing antique/junk store until she passed away in 2011. When I visited my sister in a small MO town - I had to go to the store Frances & Paul ran downtown. Usually stayed there all day hanging out and absorbing info on the antiques they had.

A few years ago at Christmas Frances called me that a 20lb pkg. was coming my way - and it was full of BEADS! broken, unbroken, jars, bags - amazing glass beads in all sizes and shapes. First: I made a long flapper length (32") w/best black glass beads for Frances. Next: 18" amethyst purple in so many gorgeous sizes with traditional restringing for her 3 granddaughters so they would have something from her.

This amazing redo is of Czech or Bohemian "pyramid" beads. I put little silver beads harvested from a vintage metal bead bag circa 1920's.

How cool is that! I also like to salvage and restring old necklaces. It seems such a waste to just let them lay around broken.

Thank you - I like to restring them to their original but sometimes add and extender since choker-length is hard to wear unless you are a teenager....

Hey valentino97, is this the necklace you talked about? You did a fine job restringing them. I see a tiny bit of the small spacer beads you told me about. I think I might have some laying around.
      Thanks a lot

Yes - this is the one. The spacers are tiny old beads from a broken beaded purse. They don't shout out - HEY I'm not original....yet they are from that time period. They give the necklace a bit of movement. I enjoy restoring old beaded jewelry.

I had an aunt who used to make purses with those spacer beads. She made dozens of small purses and tiny bags in all different colors and she would give those purses to her nieces. So I got a few of them and I still use them everyday. Unfortunately she passed away in october last year. My mother inherited her beads...She can open her own store with all those beads! She didnt want to sell them because they were my aunts so she keeps them for when my girls are big enough to play with those tiny beads. So I think tomorrow my mom will enjoy a visit from me and the girls :-)

Yes Newtimes! Beads should be enjoyed. I am sure your mother has an amazing collection and might have the perfect ones for your amber necklace.
