    Greenpoint Optical Co. was located in Greenpoint, Long Island; in 1898 Greenpoint was consolidated into the borough of Brooklyn. The company was formed by a group of employees from Edward Anthony Co. around 1880 with the Anthony Company holding partial ownership.

    In 1901 Greenpoint became part of the new Anthony and Scovill Company.
    This camera is the predecessor of the Anthony Victor Variation 2 circa 1897. It is a light weight Front Focus 5x8 format camera it was also available in 4x5; 4.25x6.5; 5x7; 6.5x8.5; 8x10 formats.
