Hi! I purchased this trunk today for $60. I know NOTHING about it! Can anyone give me information? From what I read, I believe it from the late 1800's but I am not sure how unique it is. Any information is appreciated!

    Thanks!
    Kelly

The stamped tin corner pieces give indication that it is an early 1900's piece. The 1800's trunk generally have higher quality cast iron corners -- styles are similar but the hardware changes into the 1900's. Also the tin on the front gets wider and the embossed tin which is more expensive gets smaller. It is not unique as there were many made at this time period with the same form and materials. Nice old dome trunk that you did not over pay for.

kms 154: A great source of info is in the 1902 and 1908 Sears catalogs-excellant illustrations-descripitions along with prices. The orginal catalogs are hard top come by but many excellant reproductions available.
