This tile has the proper stamp on the back, but the painting seems rather primitive. Although it would be similar to the Complts of the Holland America Line pottery that I have seen in the past, the painting details just don't seem to be what PZH normally delivered in the period.

Thank you for looking, I am really interested to find out if this is a real period piece and would be elated if it was.

Thanks Bellin, I actually have a piece similar to that one and it is indeed stunningly beautiful ! All of the Mijnlieff material is gorgeous the man was a real artist. However, it unfortunately does not answer my original question, is the tile a real period piece you think?
      Kind regards

Thank you vetriao50 and bellin68 for your confirmation - this makes me extremely happy! I have not been aware that there were any Holland America Line tiles from before 1980 (see my website on HAL "tegels" at http://www.halpostcards.com/tiles )
      Cheers

My pleasure. The cruising industry got into advertising in a big way in the late 1900's. The Holland America line used a variety of companies in Holland to advertise: Royal Goedewaagen, Zenith as well as the Delft type wares.

@vetraio50: If you have more detailed info about the tiles of the HAL in the early part of the 20th century, I would love for you to share it with me if you don't mind. You can email me at tiemen@halpostcards.com - you can see my current HAL tile collection at http://www.halpostcards.com/tiles. Looking forward to pick your brain on the early tiles!!
