    ok-i know some of the things have not been that great or hard! but this 1 has to be a good 1! not sure what its called-but its deff"-old! looks home made-i think its a shaver-or trimmer of wood! any body with some info on this item -i would love to hear it!! thank you--merry new year!

      Looks like a saurkraut cutter missing the square box that slides along the rails.The one we use has three blades and a square wooden box.If you plan on using this for kraut cutting be very carefull in cuts fingers as well as cabbage.For you people who have never had homemade kraut,there is no comparison to the store bought.In homemade kraut no water is added,just salt and quite a bit of work.

      OK-THIS IS FUNNY!! I JUST TOLD MY BOYS WHAT YOU SAID"-THAY LOOKED AT ME LIKE I WAS NUTS!! THANKS FOR THAT! im in shock my self too-because my wifes grandpa was a very good carpenter! the amount of tools he had was nuts! so i was sure this was 1 of them! the funny part about it is im a g/c! (thats pretty bad!)-you guys are great! thank you very much for all your input! its 18"inchs long by 7"wide! and no worries about me and my fingers! Im not a big KRAUT" fan! im irish-i stick to the steak and potato"s!lol::):) c-dogg

      U can still cut up some American potato fries on it......Ummmmmmgood!!!!

      Hadn't thought about using it for taters, but that is a good idea. This has been fun. I've not been to this site before, not really sure even how I got here. But if you have any more "unidentifiables," bring 'em on. Have a great new year everyone!

      These days they call em "mandolines" and they have other pieces as well to do juliennes, etc.
