I wish it would finally be Autumn and get cooler here, but I switched anyway
to my Fall/Winter wardrobe by wearing these lovely lucite and bakelite bangles. The 2 in foreground were bought this year for very little $ so you can still find the good stuff if you hunt.
I absolutely adore the yellow carved one!
Thank you - I found that 2 weeks ago for $21. I thought that was a very good price. The mustard one next in line is also bakelite, next lucite and last bakelite. Many of my bakelite bracelets have darkened over the years because I don't keep them in boxes - not in direct sunlite either. I have a yellow/w black dots that was such a lovely light yellow when I bought it 15 yrs. ago at a junk store.
Bakelite on my mind today - thank you newtimes, vintagemad, inky, vatraio50 and wolcott1 for your love!
These are lovely. This was written three years ago, and the price you mention is but a dream today.
Some vendors have gone crazy - asking over $300 for a carved bakelite bangle. I think I should just keep searching.
Thanks for sharing these.
Thanks Gillian - I know I'll be very lucky to find those $20 carved bakelite items again. I look all the time but can't afford, have always been a budget-conscious buyer (darn!!)
Haven't worn the amazing circle-dot! What is my problem? I posted my yellow collection years ago and plan to go thru it and post a few individually. One thing over the years - spacers are still cheap because sellers don't realize they might be bakelite. Once you have 6 or more on your arm - they are a dramatic bakelite statement.
