I have recently an old pocket watch whilst looking through a box I have had in my house since my grandad passed away in 2003.

In it was a pocket watch which I would really like to know about if anything can be done.

When I open the back on the first cover it says
guarantee Gold filled for 5 years

there is also a symbol of a spiky m with a t cutting through it

a 2nd cover covers the watch mechanism and that has the number 7929

The mechanism only says Swiss Made 10 Jewels

There is also a strange symbol on the reverse I cannot find anything otu about

This is all I can find

    Unsolved Mystery

      Thanks for this,

I presumed it wasn't worth as much but I am committed to restoration as much as it can be. The mainstream places I took it took it as a write off I presume because fixing it is more than its actual worth. Though I would love to keep it and pass it down to my child when he is older.

Do you know where I could get this fixed and learn more about its history

I will add a little to what AR8Jason told you. It is a Demi-Hunter case and it looks like it is brass. I would definately have it fixed. First have a good jeweler solder the front cover back on. You will need two crystals, 1 over the inner dial and the other in the outer cover (small hole). You will need a new set of hands also.
This is a relatively easy fix for any good watchmaker. Look for an old time watch maker in your area. History will be a little harder to obtain. It looks like it is late 1800's. Good Luck.

Yes, if you enlarge the picture of the front cover you can clearly see where the crystal fits neatly. I will try to find one and show you.
I have owned several and enjoyed them.

If you Google "Demi Hunter" or "Half Hunter pocket watch" you will find many examples like this watch.
