    I couldn't resist buying these at my friends thrift store, these are original photo's stamped on the back Buffalo Evening News photo by Ronald J. Colleran. Joie Chitwood: sprint car and Indy 500 driver in the 50's and 60's and than started the Joie Chitwood Thrill Show touring the country, these photo's where taken Aug 14' 1979 at the Hamburg NY Fair. His show also made the Wide world of Sports in 1967. He passed away in 1988 and is in the Sprint car Hall of Fame. His Son's continued the Thrill Show and His Grandson is President of Daytona Speedway.

      I love these! I was raised on Nascar racing.. (think Joe Weatherly, Glen "Fireball" Roberts, Curtis Turner, Marvin Panch, Wendell Scott).. and I can remember seeing Joie several times at different tracks over the years as a kid. What a show he'd put on! Thanks for sharing and reminding me how fun it used to be. :-)

      Saw his show a couple of times in the 70's at the Big E Fairgrounds in Springfield Mass. Nowadays driving into Boston is it's own Thrill Show!!!
