I acquired a box of old barbed wire at an auction and I know nothing about it, but I like it and that's why I bought it. Does anyone know anything about this type, age and what it's called? There are other kinds included, but I was just wondering about this one, because it looks unusual.

Patent #214,095, April 8, 1879 by Jacob Brinkerhoff of Auburn, N.Y. I have a good size roll of this wire that came off the XIT Ranch. Brinkerhoff sent his wire by train to fence the ranch, around 5000 miles of it!!
