This is my Champion Post Drill. I did not find the model number but think it is from the 1940's. I look at it and I see Art!

The post drill is capable of drilling anything that can be drilled by a modern drill press of equivalent size. Post drills were small (compared with the large line-shaft driven camel-back drill presses) and easily crated and shipped to any location.

The original owner assembled the post drill, mounted it to a wooden plank, and bolted the plank to a post or column in his workshop and added the motor. It is now sitting in my warehouse waiting for me to transfer to my workshop.

This is a very interesting link for iron tools and the history of iron.

The original owner was meticulous keeping notes on everything he serviced in his garage, boat house or residence. He was an engineer and a practical man adapting everything to meet his needs.

Is there a source for parts? Mine is similar to your picture, with a flat belt pulley, but is missing the small drive cog wheel. I would like to fix it up to use, as I remember how well one worked for drilling heavy metal when I grew up on the farm.
