The WW1 sweetheart items, while not as numerous as WW2, are (in my opinion) much more attractive.

This particular example is for a "Son in Service" in a MG Battalion. The Son in Service star has a bronze machine gun suspension with a silver overlay of "U.S.".

This example is on an original sales card of the era.

Is that the original display card also? Cool!

Thanks ny-- the form is typical, but the unit is unusual. They made this form with every branch. I see many with regularity: infantry, artillery, medical and quartermaster.

The card is the original-- another things that sets it apart from most of these.
