      They sure were, your wife's father was with the 29th Signal Battalion (Clear and Open) which was located in Coleman Barracks, Sandhofen, Germany during the mid fifties. The 29th is now located at Fort Lewis, Washington. The second photo is a DUI for the 317 Signal Construction Battalion (Beware The Web) was located in Pirmasens, Germany

      A DUI is a Distinctive Unit Insignia.

      The unit motto ("Clear and Open" and "Beware the Web") is only PART of the DUI. The DUI includes BOTH the Coat of Arms and the unit motto.

      These are often referred to by soldiers as DIs or unit crests.

      Thanks Ar8jason, your wife yesterday looked at the jewelry i posted last year and left questions, 4 or more posts. so funny the first posts on these. i just right clicked with my mouse and downloaded the photos, to answer her.

      Jason tell her to look at the jewelery from 1900s here it is wonderful fake Victorian pins for hats and coats some are huge 3"-4"
