I was given this certificate in 1978 as a gift from my mother and just took a good look at it today when looking through some old things. This bill is signed by the Treasurrer and secritary of Treasury which served starting in 1961. Does anyone know anything regarding these mixed up signatures??

I'm pretty sure the "Series" of the bill isn't exactly when the bill is released. According to snopes, the series date is not when the bill is released but instead when it is designed.

When a minor change is made (such as the signatures) a letter is applied to the series date, in this case 1957 A. So, there is no mix up; They designed that bill in 1957 and then in 1961 changed the signatures so it became 1957 A.

You can read the snopes article here: http://www.snopes.com/business/money/newmoney.asp

I have some rare coins and silver certificates that I would be interested in selling. Looking for the value on these items or where I could get any info. Thank you!
