I love beads so I bought this and have used as a book mark for many years.
It is 7" long and must attach to a button, I just am not sure what it is or what tribe it is from.

What you have is a watch fob for a pocket watch. I have two myself, and I have seen many like it thru the years. Can't tell exactly which nation it if from but by the bead pattern, I would hazard a guess that it's most likely one of the Plains Nations, most likely Lakota.
