These were made from home kits in the 1940's. I wear them on my jean jackets. They always get comments when I wear them on St. Patrick's Day and Vday. I found a little info from the Schiffer book: "Wooden Jewelry & Novelties" by Mary Jo Izard. My question - does anyone have any original patterns or advertisements for these? I know felt w/sequin bird pins and pincushions were also popular projects at that time. I'm always looking for the Bluebird of Happiness.

No info, but just wanted you to know how much I love these! They would look great on MY jean jackets, too! LOL

Thanks for your comments - aren't they great?? I pin them to my jean jackets w/other old funky pins. Do you remember in the 70's when it was popular to paint or stitch on the back of a jean jacket? Sadly, I got rid of the ones I altered, kick myself for that. Ever since I've been on the hunt for old denim - and I have some good ones but I love my 70's jean jacket by Mr. Leggs Western Wear - the artist gave up painting the sunset so it just has a smear of colorful paint on the back. I could not love this jacket more. It is so cool.
