I found these in two different estates. Questions I have is putting names to the cursive which I am so poor at reading early penmanship and any info on the young German soldiers. Lastly what is the larger younger gent photo dated 1896. Many thanks for any help you all can provide. Brian

I live in Clarksville-- nice to see items with the Clarksville backmark (I collect them).

The young man may not be military. The badge/ pin is hard to see but it doesn't look like anything military.
I like the tinting on the two German images.

They must have known each other. I found them in the same estate, Both from IL and both mustered out the same day
They were in the same company. Palmer was Burns' company commander.
I don't think that the third guy is a fireman-- the hat badge is not typical fireman. It could be some sort of band or fraternal group.

I have an image of another member of the 83rd Ill. It was taken in Clarksville as well.
The regiment was garrisoned in Clarksville for an extended period during the Civil War.
