    Can anyone please tell me anything about this chest. A neighbor gave it to me and ive had it gor about 6yrs, i wish i had more info on this but i don't

      I am on it BB2. You have a lovely civil war era dome top trunk from the 1860's. It was specific to that period as they used paper due to the shortage of leather and canvas that was going to the war effort. There would have been a small leather piece over the latch as a protective cover-- you can see the two rivets still there. The lithograph on the inside lid was typical of the day. The trunk itself would be pine body. There were a plethora of makers at the time so without a label you will be hard pressed to find out what company made it. It is a bit unusual to see this larger size trunk for this date and age -- most were the smaller flat-top versions. It is a great trunk with lots of history and character.
