Went out pickin at the local antique shops today and found this Seated Ocelot (Cat) - miniature. It has no mold or maker stamp. Is made of Ada clay, stands at 3" tall and is dark green to almost black (in the light it looks dark green). Is listed in old Frankoma sales catalogs as either mold 167 (ca. 1943) or 165 (ca. 42-57). No holes in head, so not a salt/pepper that was also made as mold 167H. Paid $12.00 making it a great find, was my lucky day. He's getting along fine with the other Frankoma.
nice find! I live in OK so I see a lot of Frankoma. Actually toured the plant as a boy scout...
I've seen and sold a few of the small puma figurines. Try to verify the glaze color, from what you describe it sounds like the early Onyx, which looked very dark green under bright light.
