Can anyone give me a date and appropriate name for this dog ? My Great Aunt has had it in her china cabinet for 50 yrs, before that it was her mothers.... She wants me to get info for her. He is soooo cute !!

This is a very nice bisque "Doodle Dog" made by Rose O'Neill in aprox 1920. This dog was designed as a companion to Kewpie, and was modeled after a live French Bulldog. How tall is it ? Can it be for sale ?
I'm not looking at it right now, but I would say it is about 4" tall...? I am not sure if she wants to sell....I'll ask her.
If she is interested in selling it, and it is 4" I would pay a fair price for it. Feel free to call me at 860-564-3034 anytime. I would buy it , size does not matter.
It is just shy of 4". As soon as I reminded her it is called Doodle Dog ( not Kewpie Dog..) all of a sudden she remembers she had all kinds of info on it. Yes she says she wants to sell it but I don't think she is realistic about the price in todays economy. She has a listing from a similar item in 2008 for $2200.00 and wont budge below that. So, thank you for helping, now I can follow it for her. I tried to skype you Kewpieman, but your phone wouldn't accept the call...lol.

Love that doggie! He is hard to find! I've gotten lots of Kewpies but the pups don't come 'round often and are always fairly expensive. There was one on e=bay for $6oo+ a couple weeks ago but that was a low end. You're a lucky lady! Hold on to him! HE'S a LOVE

I have a Doodle dog about 2-1/4" tall but I suspect it could be a reproduction. The black spot over the eye is more definite, not soft edges, and ends before overlapping the left eye. I cannot read the "Rose O'Neill" clearly on the bottom, although there is something. And I can read "K Mary 1999" on the bottom of his foot.
Is it possible this is just a newer production by Jesco or Cameo?
