Hello friends! I am very happy to have added a pretty rare Loetz piece to my collection; in the "Treetrunk" decor. This one has suffered the loss of a fairly large chunk of the spiraling snake, in more than one place, but it's still a terrific example of Jungensil craftsmanship from c1900. The snake may be broken, but it does give a rare chance to see that the snake is solid glass, not tubular. The iridescent coating gives the illusion that the snake is hollow, but it is solid. I would not have broken the snake to find that out, but now I know!

The second photo shows the Treetrunk with some relatives; on the left Phanomen Gr. 1/844, and on the right a PG 7773 JIP vase with its' own snake (both from earlier posts). This gives the perspective - the PG 1/844 is 9" tall. The Treetrunk is 10" tall and 5" in diameter - a nice wide trunk!

The third picture shows the Treetrunk with a Loetz Maximia vase. Here I want to show the similarity on the tops; where the glass is twisted and scalloped in very organic forms. This also makes this vase an unusual and rare form of Treetrunk; and I feel very lucky to own it, even if it isn't perfect. Enjoy!

Thank you, Greatsnowyowl; I really love it even with the breakage. It almost adds realism to the sculpture.

I debated with myself about bidding on the Treetrunk but in the end because I am such a perfectionist I decided not to go for it. However it is a wonderful piece.

I thought there was at least one bid missing. :)
