these are marked made in France, not sure if they are bakelite or what material they are made of, any ideas on thier age or the company that might have made them?

I have one or two of these type of hair grips! Must dig them out!
last picture is new, 2 more pieces I missplaced, all made in France
Rub one against something until it is warm. If it smells bad it is probably
bakelite.
