I bought this beautiful decorated fiberglass chair at a mid-century shop in Soho, NYC awhile ago. But I am not clear as to whom the designer and maker is. I believe is a Greta Magnusson Grossman, designed in 1951 by Chemold. Any information would be greatly appreciate it. Cheers

I believe you're right, but I think it was manufactured by Glenn of California. Not positive of the year, but have a look here: http://andrewromano.tumblr.com/post/183770429/fiberglass-lounge-chairs-by-greta-magnusson

Thanks guys. I am a bit confused coz I keep hearing and reading that it looks like my chair was designed by Hobart Wells who designed much of the furniture for the Lensol-Wells company. It was often mis-attributed to Greta Grossman as her graphic design was use on this chair. I just want to be sure so I can know the proper attribution.

irvpb80 - there does appear to be some confusion about who designed the chairs (probably because parts were actually designed/produced by different people/companies). Here's an older thread following the same issue: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/12126-fiberglass-chairs

Perhaps Grossman did the graphic design, which was printed by the Chemold plastic company, and then the chair was designed/manufactured by Lensol-Wells? that seems to be the conclusion on this earlier post.

my final two cents: Glenn of California produced the fabric (designed by Grossman) which was embedded in the plastic form by Chemold: http://metromodern.biz/Hobart-Wells-Lounge-Chair.html

Lots of people worked on this chair :)

      Hi.
I have an identical chair to yours and was wondering what you paid for it.
I'm looking to sell the one I have and was curious what the market value is.
      Thanks for your time.
