I inherited this pocketwatch marked "Wyler" on its face from my dad, Lloyd Shetler. This watch was given to him by a friend of his and he wore it proudly when he got dressed up for formal functions. The crystal is made of plastic, and has a slightly greenish tinge to it which doesn't really show in the pictures.
I hesitated to post this because I don't know much about this watch or even about the maker. What kind of escapement does it contain? As far as age, I believe it dates to somewhere between the late 1940's and early 1950's - but I could be wrong. If anyone can tell me what size the case is (judging by the proximity to the American quarter), or a little about the history of the Wyler watch company, I'd appreciate being contacted with whatever details you'd be willing to share. You'll find an "E-Mail Me" link on my collection website at http://dougsclocks.hpage.com/ . Thanks for looking - this watch runs and keeps perfect time!

Paul Wyler was born on 15th June 1896 and established the Wyler Watch company in Basel on 28th March 1924 in Basel. Among Wyler’s biggest customers was Innocente Binda, an Italian entrepreneur whose family business has grown into one of today’s big watchmaking groups, the Binda Group. Based in Milan, Italy, the Binda Group is the parent company of Wyler Genève.

Throughout its history, the Wyler watch company has upheld a commitment to producing innovative, yet reliable and sturdy timepieces in continuation of its founder’s original mission.

The watches are good quality, but one has to note that the Wyler company still manufactures today and do make replicas of their old style watches.
