Ten Fighter Pilots was the idea of Athol Forbes D.F.C. who had aspirations of becoming a writer. He realised that after the war many books would be published. However, what if they could write and publish their experiences and publish them before the end of the war?

The result was first published by Collins in 1942. And featured first hand accounts from the boys of 66 Squadron, including: (As they appear in the book.)

Doug Hunt
John ‘Durex’ Kendal
Jimmy ‘Binder’ Bodie
Crelin ‘Bogle’ Bodie
Robert ‘Oxo’ Oxspring

John ‘Pickle’ Pickering

Apologies for stealing someone elses write up. This is a beautiful book that I bought some time ago. By the time the book was printed some of the 10 authors had already been killed in action, and that is acknowledged in the book.

It has been reprinted and can be bought quite cheaply. I can't recommend reading this book enough.

I bought it entirely on spec and paid what I thought was a lot for a WWII book without a dust cover, £10, but it was worth every penny.
