Found this at Goodwill today and thought it looked pretty neat. Appears to be pretty old. It says made in Germany and has some markings on the bottom.

If you know anything about the markings i would appreciate the info!

Text in German, "Drink Freund noch lang. Bei Spiel und Sang."

Google says it means, "Drink friend still long. At game and in song."

If it says "Made In Germany", I would say it was made before WWII & probably for export.

Yea, i figured that was the case too. I am wondering what year it was made. I looked over several markings and couldn't find any that matched. Still looking for answers.

It looks like the mark of Eckhardt & Engler of Höhr (Höhr-Grenhausen since 1936), Germany. Is there a back-to-back E above the H? This is probably post-WWI. The translation of the verse is "At play and song, drink friend some more."

Yes, it appears there is a back to back E although it is kinda distorted. Any idea of its worth? I paid $4.00 at Goodwill.

Makes one wonder how these things survived that little disagreement called WWII?

Well it was probably safely here in the States by then i would think but if not what a neat piece to find and even more unique since it survived.

I have two of these steins that my father brought back from West Germany during the Korean War. They are post WW1 and pre WW2. The literal translation is as stated, but it means, "At Games and Song, Drink all night long, friend."
