Hi I couldn't find any info online about this cast iron pot.
It is 5" across the top, 4 1/2" high, 11 1/2 high to the top to the handle.
The bottom has the number 8 and the letters "PASKO"

Actually, your lettering on the bottom is "PASCO". The number 8 usually signifies the size of the pot. There is a Pasco, Washington state, which is probably where this came from. I collect some cast iron and had not seen this before. Maybe because I am on the east coast, and this is from the west coast. Type in PASCO cast iron in google and you will probably find quite a bit of info. Sometimes I will check ebay, just to see if there are any of the items I am looking at on there. It is in good shape and would clean up nicely, if you wanted to Welcome to CW, Thrifty

What is the recommended way to clean up a cast iron dutch oven in this condition?

yrtwins2, your very welcome for the info. I could repeat what I have read and done on some of my cast iron skillets and pots to clean them, (still using them!), but I might not get all of the details right. (Getting old!) The best information on this is on google. Type in "salvage and season rusty cast iron cook ware, and it will pull up several excellent sites to get this pot back to where it was! The main part I remember is after cleaning off the rust, oil down your pot and bake for a period of time in the oven, until it is "seasoned". I usually never use water on my cast iron. All it usually takes is a little salt and a rag to rub it out. Using too much water on these can damage the "seasoning" on the pots or pans. That is my story anyway, and I am sure there are people on here that have there own methods to. Hope this helps. Thrifty
