I picked this up at an auction and can not find out what it is. I know it's a tool but I don't know for what trade. Can any one help me?

Maybe (seems to be my favourite word) to get tangles out of sheep's wool? Something I wouldn't want near me with my clothes off!

It looks like some sort of upholstery stretcher.

rainh, you might be right but I'm guessing. Why would the prongs face the handle? That's what stumps me. The way they face tells me something is supposed to be drawn thru it. "Me not no mon".

found it - I was close. It is a 'goose neck webbing stretcher' used in upholstery. I just took a shot at what I thought it might be used for because the prongs on the inside kind of made me wonder as well, blunderbuss2, then I noticed the rubber pad thing on the top side and thought maybe that was meant for bracing while stretching. (beginners luck) :)

:) thank you blunderbuss2 - I wish I could find answers to some of the stuff I look for- but now that I've found this site I'll have to start taking some pictures and asking "What's This Thingy?...anybody know?? :) I love how you all help each other out. (and the easy humor you all share)
