Interesting black ceramic face on plated silver, pewter - or some other silver base metal. Measures 1.75"x3.75". Beautiful work.

Salvador Teran was an artist who made beautiful ethnic silver and gold plated jewelry for the Marbel department store, Mexico City in the 1960's. I think the market was mainly directed to tourists. Gold plated examples are most desirable. My pendant above is very well-crafted w/no dings or scratches. Marks on back are a little hard to read but in #3 states "Marbel Mexico" and below the ceramic face says "Salvador - 12"? I'm not sure of exact lower mark.

    I love it, its unusual.
I have a very heavy large black potmetal tiki pendat that reminds me of your pendant. But not as fancy. I will post it soon here on CW. Maybe you can give me your opinion on it.

Thank you moonstonelover for your love. I posted it because another CW member had a very nice gold-plated example but I knew some history.

Makes me think if you wear it you may evoke an ancient spirit:) how cool is that???

Thank you nldionne - it is definitely the Mayan or Aztec spirit and both are scary and powerful. I think Mayan. Did you see the other posting for the plated gold w/green ceramic face necklace. Very nice. Mine is simpler. I love all 1960's jewelry.
