3 sweet carved .75" bakelite pins from around 1930's? I've seen some on ebay recently in a similar flower motif theme and same size sold one at a time but no history was given. These are very precious to me - gift from old boyfriend. They were his grandmother's pins. I'm the 2nd owner. These are the only painted bakelite items I have: first one a bouquet of delightful colors, 2nd pictures shows ladybug and mushroom.
Because of their size they must have been cheap dime-store items. Would appreciate any comments.
Thank you phil - yes it was a great gift. Altho I haven't been in touch w/him for 15 years - if he has a daughter I'll be sure she gets these from me one day.
So sweet! I adore the mushroom! I would wear it all the time it was mine.
Their back doesnt look that old I must say...the metal looks so crispy and new. I bet the grandmother didnt really wear them or she must have taken good care about them.
Thank you Sean for your love.
Thanks Newtimes for your love and comments! I don't think she wore them either. Maybe she was already too old in the 1930's ....(let's see she would have been about late 20's - no not too old!). Aren't they sweet? My favorite is the little bouquet. I've worn them.
Thank you Moonstone!
Thank you dionysia for your love!
Thank you manikin for your love!
Wow I would not have noticed these were bakelite if I had seen them on ebay. It looks like wood. Wonderful bakelite pieces?
Yes Elisabeth, bakelite. An old boyfriend's Grandmother had them. I really love these sweet little guys. Every now and then I see one online. Thanks XOXO
These are wonderful Mary!
And so smart that you kept them!
I had a lovely ring from a boyfriend in high school, traded it for a turquoise bracelet. (Sigh)
Eileen - I've traded some treasures which I regret, big Sigh too! Aren't these so sweet? His grandmother never ventured much further than Falls City, NE. I imagine her finding these at a dime store or maybe they were a gift. Very special. Her grandson (my ex) asked for the pearl necklace and a wonderful green Czech glass brooch - and I gave those back to him with no issue. But, he didn't ask about these little treasures..LOL.
