butterscotch bakelite: 2.5"x1.75". I usually don't purchase painted items like this because in the 80's many items claimed to be but weren't bakelite. See picture 3 example.
Why were some bakelite grooves painted in? I don't think it adds to the design. Maybe that was a later feature from 50's and beyond. Recently on ebay have seen some bracelets very similar to the one above in #3 which I purchased at Buffums in 1992.

Thanks Nicefice - I've seen a few birds like mine online for sale.
Great post! When I saw the bird I thought ut would be something for you Mary, and then I saw it was yours... :) very nice. I agree even if I have not seen painted bakelite in real life. Seems very unnecessary. Bakelite doesn't need makeup being such natural beauties! Love the bird though.
Thank you Elisabeth! I love this bird. As for the bracelet - same showed up on Rubylane and the seller said it was a Diana Von Furstenburg bracelet, and it was bakelite. However, mine seems to be a very nice resin, doesn't pass any of the tests. Still it's 30+ years old, not a scratch, beautiful quality. I think it's a Diana V!!
Thank you friends for your loves.
