Do you know how to use one? I decided to learn when I lived on the tiny island of St. Eustatius,NA. I would often get a 4 n. mile difference in reading during noon sightings. Our beach seemed to come & go so I soon convinced the locals that it was actually the island that was coming & going instead of the beach. Later learned the importance of keeping the instrument perfectly perpendicular.

After my revelation, I doubt anybody would want me to navigate. Back then, the locals in "Statia" swore there was a hole in the ocean NW of St. Kitts so they easily believed me when I claimed the island moved. Both are true but that was 35 yrs ago.

Half my friends & doubt many have one. GPS has taken over all that bother.
