hi cw...just wanted to share my latest find...its a golden tea set with hand painted dragons...I like to collect dragons because I am a dragon in Chinese Astrology...this set has one creamer and one covered sugar bowl. The inside of the creamer is a soft gray getting darker as it nears the top and bottom, 2 regular tea cups and saucers and 4 mini tea cups with matching saucers BUT once again...NO tea pot...lol...I am beginning to think there is a tea pot hoarder out there that only collects the tea pots and not the rest of the sets....from what I currently know this set is 22K gold overlay with hand painted dragons...the dragons look very much like the Dragon ware from Japan...there was no base marking to be positive but the style and shape is almost identical to the Japanese Dragonware....as always, I welcome any comments or info about this golden dragon tea set and thank you for looking ..... love this site!

I have this set, complete with teapot! It comprises five each cups and saucers, teapot, creamer jug and sugar bowl. But the lid for the sugar bowl is missing :(

The strange thing is, on the bottom of every piece is stamped the word "Japan". It appears to be identical to yours, apart from this!

I too, would love to know more about this set!!

wow! snowflake you are very fortunate to have a complete set...for now I am using a Noritake white teapot with gold accents...you are very fortunate to have the whole set...unfortunately I have not been able to find any matching pieces to add to mine but your message gives me hope that there are more pieces out there...I will keep looking and thank you for sharing....as always, love this site!

      Hi jr,
I feel sure that there must be other pieces out there too. I need a replacement lid for my sugar bowl, so I will keep looking. I am in Australia and my set was given to us in the 1980s by someone from Hungary! Who knows where pieces might turn up!! Good luck with your search :)

nippon was from 1891 - 1921 which was the law to mark in order to ship to the states which (means country of Japan) ... then in 1922 they stamp it all japan hand made and painted in japan ... then china and twain use labels which could be remove.. and people selling it as japan made ....but not ....and scene the 80's fake japan stamps on the back...So a quick study on line will tell you what you have ...look it up ...later
