Here are a few photographs of Antonin Rückl & Sons, Vcelnicka. Photo 1 shows the front door of the administrative building located at 44 Vcelnicka. Photo 2 shows the glassware manufacturing area. Photo 3 and 4 are aerial views of the buildings and the surrounding area.

Below is documentation direct from the owners representative via a 2006 auction notice. The translation is a little rough but you'll hopefully get the idea that they did exist and they did have the capacity to manufacture a large quantity of glass. This information can be found about 1/3 of the way down the page on the following link: http://www.kp-real.cz/reference.php

The area glassworks in the village Vcelnicka near Kamenice of Lipa in the district Pelhrimov. The company manufactured glass products - specializing in handmade luxury utility and decorative glass. The production program consisted of 4 groups of products - Crystal, stribrosklo (the only producer), metallurgical and colored glass ruby glass (the only company in the world). The subject of the auction means of production are incl. documentation and templates by which products are formed - see movable and intangible assets below. The area Glassworks is located on the outskirts of the village Vcelnicka with access from local paved roads. The complex consists of the following objects: - Administrative Building No. 44 - several objects storage - Glassworks - water treatment - maintenance shop - service stations - storage of combustibles - garage - outdoor design: land, water supply, drainage, fencing, septic, well, chimney The area is about 4 years of operation, the objects are maintenance free and therefore are in a deterioration of the structural and technical condition. It is connected to utilities - water, electric. energy, gas. Sewage is collected in septic tanks. Old building is about 100 years old, in 1920, 1960 and 1980 were carried out reconstruction in its present form. Technological operations include panvarnu, batch plant, boiler, regulacku and formarnu. In addition, file systems and equipment operating glassworks bees, tools, office equipment, computer equipment, inventory, raw materials. The technology used for the production of stained glass, painted glass, cut glass, etc. Machinery and equipment are largely removed. Part of movable assets and inventory is residual, old, very worn and unserviceable.

Timeline as compiled from other sources:
The factory was founded opened in 1875 by Antonin Rückl.
    After WWII it was Nationalized.
June 1992 Jan Ruckl purchased the factory.
    January 2002 Bankruptcy proceedings started.
July to October 2002 glass works was operated by Eitas, subsidiary of Electroisola.
January 2003 Sklarny Rueckl (SR) bought the plant at an auction for CEK 7.7 M. CEK 7 M was spent in its reconstruction
November 2003 Production restarted of ruby-glass. Sklarny Ruckl had been awarded contracts for ruby glass for six months ahead. Most of the production was exported with some exports going to the USA.
2006 Auctioned via auction notice above.

If anyone can help with a better translation it would be appreciated. Please note that some of the special characters have been altered for this posting.

Please view my other CW Bohemian Glass postings for a small sampling of their decorative glassware production.

All constructive comments and questions are welcome.

      Hi Charcoal!
Just found this article in English on the final sale of the firm:
      http://www.kn.cz/clanek/vcelnicka-glass-works-auction-comes-third-attempt
An article published 19th December 2012

It seems the property was finally bought by Rückl Glass Works Usti nad Labem. Back in the Rückl family.

Hey vetraio50, Thank you for providing the link. Yes, It is my understanding that they have owned it since 1875 but clear documentation is difficult to locate. Surprisingly, the auction notice I posted above seems to include the "lost" documentation of their production and production methods as well. Thank you again for your help.

I've downloaded a copy of the "drazebni vyhlaska" very full account of what was for sale.

I have not found the exact address.

Many thanks for that Charcoal, I enjoy just having a look around on Google. That chimney stack just gives it away in the town.

In the fourth photo you can see the local railway line, the "Jindrichohradecke mistni drahy" that could have been used to transport glass to Kamenice nad Lipou and beyond.

Hello vetraio50, Thank you for adding that information. The measurement from the front door to the train station is approximately 1/5th of a mile.

Info for Jericho and anyone else who is interested in Ruckl glass factories...

Ruckl had at least three large factories mass producing export glass in the era between WW1 and WW2.

      1) Nizbor which specialized in cut crystal:
      http://www.ruckl.cz/en/foto.php?OBR=letecky-pohled.jpg

      2) Vcelnicka (pictured above) which specialized in colored art glass.

      3) Kamenicky Senov (near Navy Bor) which specialized in lamps, lighting components, and industrial glassware products such as filtering glass as used for welding helmets ect. May have produced a few other things as well?

Metallurgical glass, as mentioned above, is the use of various metal oxides and alloys suspended or cased inside glass compounds to create sparkly metallic effects and properties. I feel it is safe to say that the documented Ruckl Metallit Decor used this process.
