      Looks very Italian and decorative. The underbase, screws etc..would probably help in dating it but I don't think it is older than the 1950's,IMHO. BOB(LOUMANAL)

      Looking at the underbase, It does look like it has more age than I gave it. I will retract my previous estimate on date...still looks Italian though! RER

      I cannot speak to this particular example without seeing it in person, but the older of these types of pieces tend to be Victorian in nature. Often found in pairs, or three piece garniture sets. They tend to be strictly decorative in that they do not typically hold liquid as the form would otherwise suggest.

      Top is closed solid, only for decoration, but now happy I bought it! Kind of unusual!? Thanks!
