This aerial photo of The Saratoga Race Course was taken in 1935 by the US Army. It measures 23.7Cm by 17.8Cm.
The course has changed somewhat over the years, but still retains its old time grandeur. This year's season marks 150 years of racing at The Spa.

It would be neat to see this next to one of the same shot taken now, a lot has changed down there for sure.
Thank you, Tommy~It WOULD be neat to see the old and the new side by side! Some changes that I can see are the elimination of the 7 1/2 (?) furlong chute, near the clubhouse turn, the abscence of the frontstretch saddling area, and the presence of some now gone structures near the homestretch turn. Also the outer turf course appears to be a Steeplechase course with an extension into today's inner turf course.
There are some other differences on the track grounds that can be seen, too. And even Saratoga Springs itself looks a lot less developed in this photo!
I am looking forward to the 2013 Season at The Spa, and if you are also, the best of wishes for a profitable campaign to you!

No, Tommy, sorry to say that it is not the case. I live about 3 hours from there.
But it's an easy ride, and I get reasonable room rates in Albany.
I got some good friends who work for NYRA, and they help me out with passes & privileges, for which I'm really thankful!!!!!

Reasonable rates in Albany.... never heard of that hehe come to Glens Falls it's closer and most probably cheaper. I live in the area.
Some of my friends stay in Glens Falls, and they like the rates and the surroundings. I already booked for Albany, so maybe next year for Glens Falls for me.
Keep in touch, as I most likely can get you some passes etc for SAR.

I live about 30 minutes from Saratoga Springs and visit the racetrack multiple times when it's open during the summer! (In fact, right now I have reservations for every week that it's open.) Thanks so much for posting this great picture!
