The auction catalog listed this Quezal piece as 14 inches tall, so I assumed that it was when I examined it. I got a real surprise when it barely fit on a 17 inch shelf. It turned out to be 16 inches tall and is signed "Quezal V14." (1991)

belleverre, A very nice applied example, by any chance did this one come out of Early's Auctions a couple of years ago?

JJZ- No, this came out of a corporate collection in Montgomery Alabama in May of 1991.

belleverre, Thank you for your response. I attended that auction in Montgomery, AL and was your under bidder on the vase...I have always regretted not going another bid or two...it is a very clean and beautiful example...the example that was at Early's was not nearly as nice. Thanks again.

The V14 on the bottom has nothing to do with the size. It is believed to be a "Tiffany" type registration. JJZ knows more about it.

FWF is correct: The "V" prefix dates this example to about circa 1918...the "V" prefix was the last letter used before the transition over to the Quezal silver signature... similar to the Durand silver signature. Numbers with the the "V" prefix don't usually go any higher than about 250/300.
