this teddy is in the family since time began,missing an ear,but him very good,some say the ear was cut of to use on cheap teddys,as the ear had a a brass tag in it dont realy maybe ye can help,me

Obviously you want it to be a Steiff bear. It would be worthless if it was. Sorry but it is damaged and otherwise in bad shape. You can research Steiff bears at the link I am posting below.

Your bear is a precious family heirloom . I can't see him clear enough nor can I tell what fur and paws are made of from photo . My First impression is that he is not a stieff bear , can you tell me what the fur and paws are made of and also what is he stuffed with , does he feel hard or crunchy like straw ? I have seen many a bear with ear off because either the child carried them by the ear or a pet dog chewed it off . I am not seeing Steiff characteristics on him jump out at me . very cute .
