This was an interesting find and a nice extra bonus after yesterdays haul. When I took apart the watercolor frame to clean the glass and secure everything I found these newspapers being used as padding behind the matte board and backing of the picture. They've been sealed in the frame all these years. The date is Sunday December 8. 1935. I found several pages of the Sunday comics in full color and two complete Taylor's Basement ad flyers which are about six to eight pages each. They are in perfect although yellowed condition. The comics are still bright but one section has a six inch tear right in the center. You have Little Orphan Annie, Elmer, Maw Green, Tillie the Toiler, Professor Kindly, The Van Swaggers and others. This was right in the middle of the "Great Depression" and look at the dollar sale. Guess dollar stores are nothing new. They sure have sprung up around here after our "Great Recession /Depression". -Mike-

Well I don't know about luck, but it does seem to be a common practice with framing stores to build up the back with whatever they had on hand. I had another print with a 1967 Toronto newspaper in it.
