Collecting ART NOUVEAU SHADES by Darrah L. Roberts is the quintessential reference book on American art glass shades. The elusive QUEZAL number 257 shade is considered by many shade collectors to be the ultimate must have shade if one can ever be found.
This Roberts #257 shade is engraved on the fitter rim: QUEZAL

FWF: Your early Quezal vase is a good one...yes, the same decoration...this decoration is one of my favorites...

ks85: When a shade is referred to as...Roberts #257...shade collectors are referring to both the shape and decoration...sometimes they will singularly refer to the Roberts shape or decoration to help identify a closely related shade. The Collecting Art Nouveau Shades book has been out of print for many years...you can usually find a hard copy on eBay for between $60/80. There is also a loose binder additional reference book ART GLASS SHADES by Darrah L. Roberts....I'v added a photo to help identify

Considered myself to be very fortunate to own one of the finest shade by Quezal. Wondering how many of these shades are out there?
