I picked this up at a flea market, I'm not positive what to call it so i can't find it anywhere, it appears to have been used to print pages of a military field manual from WWII which is the era that the gear on the bed matches. If you have any info please let me know.
Looks like a rucksack check list photo, they would lay out everything you need to put in your rucksack. Proberly part of a pamplet. Dave
My guess is that it is a printing plate like dizzydave said. I have a peters ammo printing plate and cant seem to find anything like it either or what it worth. . Should be a great collector item's for many people though! Great find!!!
It is a printers engraving. Used in letterpress printing. If you want to see the image just press it into an ink pad and press it onto a piece of paper. The plate you have is in "reverse" and will come out "right-reading" when printed. Letterpress was the most common method of printing right up to the 1950's and 60's. The plate appears to have been etched out of brass and they were usually mounted on wooden blocks. The standard height from base to face is .918". Plates like these are fairly common. But sometimes the subject matter is the valuable thing. Plates depicting historical events from newspapers or of famous people have more value of course. My guess is that they start at 2 or 4 dollars and can be much more depending on the subject matter and finding a collector for the subject being depicted
