Great War Dust Jackets
Alan Hewer's comprehensive site is devoted to World War I books and dust jackets from 1914 to 1939. Most of the books featured are British, Australian, Canadian, and American first editions, but there are French and German books here, too. The heart of the site is organized alphabetically — at least a dozen covers are packed onto each page. Special pages focus on books by “All Quiet on the Western Front” author Erich Maria Remarque, covers of “Great War Adventures Magazine,” and war novels written for children. Browse via the author index, or check out Hewer's “highly personal” list of his top-20 war memoirs, each accompanied by a brief description.
