I have this old piece of jewelry of two birds that are flying. They are hooked together by the two chains. The only marks on it are on each one on the back it says STERLING and under that it says JAR
Any idea what JAR means and what this piece of jewelry is called? Thanks.

This again looks just like the ones in my grandma's jewlery box.
I believe they are sweater connectors. One bird goes on each side of the sweater vs. buttoning it....holding it together. I love these!
