    Hi, this old tag was in with an old estate lot of 1940's items I purchased recently. I'm just not sure what type of vehicle its for! It's 3-1/2" X 1-1/8" and from the east coast. Maybe its for a motorcycle or trailer.......

      It is for an automobile. During the steel shortage of WW ll they were only allowed to use minimal steel to make license plates so many states made "tabs" that were attached to the previous years plates. Other states made plates from various composite materials including soybean which were often enjoyed by goats and horses.
