Hey all, I got this a while back, not even knowing what I had bought! After extensive research I believe what I have is a Yamaha YA1 Red dragonfly, Yamaha's first motorcycle. Notice the cool shocks in the rear, the seat spring for the cantilevered seat, the frame is uncut but all I have is the frame, shocks and seat spring, I thought I might build a bobber out of it and made a couple comments on a web site only to be chastised by the vintage motorcycle police, Ha. So at this point it is just going to set until I find more information on it. I understand that Yamaha has one in their museum that is actually made from a Harley Davidson Hummer with also used a small 125cc two stroke engine, the Red Dragonfly's were bought back by Yamaha and taken apart to see where they could make improvements so there are very few left in the world, I had one expert tell me that there is only one complete bike in the US and a handful maybe worldwide. I would like to learn more about this neat little bike, and I won't be chopping it any time soon.
