Juanita Louise Henry-Durham was born in 1921 and married the brother of Katie Mae Durham-Tatum and Gladys Celia Durham-Henry,Alonzo(aka...Lonzo ). She was also Katie Mae's best friend since grade school.

She was taught to make quilts by her mother at an early age. She also married into a quilt making family that had six generations of quilt makers to its credit.

Juanita loves to create M-provisational string pieced star quilts from miscellaneous cloth scraps. The star quilt in this post was created for me by my great aunt, Juanita. The second photos show how she creates the stars by sewing the small pieces of cloth to newspaper.

Her Husband, Lonzo Durham was a farmer all his life. His Wife Juanita ,being a frugal farm women ,created the above strip pieced M-provisational quilt from his old shirts and other farm clothes. It is referred to as the old farmer quilt.
