Indian Pottery found in woods?

Dear viewers,

First of all I am fourteen, some of my friend and I were walking through the woods medal detecting and while we were diging for a piece of metal we dug this piece of pottery up. We were wondering how old it is and who made it. It has what I think is a makers mark on the bottom ( as seen in the pictures). Please tell me how old this is or if it's just a school project.
