antique blue and white sponge ware broom holder

I have what I believe is a very unusual piece I have had this around 15 years and bought it from a lady who was in her 80's and getting rid of stuff. It is made of crockery and she had it by her backdoor holding a broom which it does quite nicely. It is blue and white sponge ware and measures 6 inches across the base and the hole in the center is 1 inch. If anyone has seen anything like this I would appreciate finding out more bout it.
