This is the last mural of Anton Refregier's 27 in the Rincon Center in San Francisco. It is also one of the largest and most complex. Refreigier painted 27 murals for the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in the 1940s as part of the New Deal. At the time the Rincon Center was a post office. It closed in 1978, however.

Below is the description for this poignant mural.

27. War and Peace: "The original design for this panel featured a seven food head and shoulders portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt in the central section, but objections were raised that the portrait was too political and on orders from the Public Buildings Administration in Washington, Refreigier changed the subject matter. The left section depicts the death of Fascism, the center illustrates the four freedoms, and the right shows representatives of different nations seated around the United Nations conference table in San Francisco."
