I do not know that much about studio pottery however I purchased a really good book not that long ago but cannot find anything in it that indicates who made or where this wonderful large piece is from. I bought at auction last year simply because I liked it, the colours, form, design all appealed to me. It is a very heavy piece, well made and stands about 15" in height. As the picture shows, there is a signature but I am terrible at deciphering this sort of thing, anyone any ideas?

Hello, the signature and work are very reminiscent of Henri Friez. If you belong to an artprice.com or some sort of web site where they share (sometimes for a fee) auction info, then you will see what I mean. If it were then you have found an unbelievable piece of art. Auction results for smaller pieces between $6K-$8K The only thing is that the dates don't match up, if indeed that is a '66 i see for 1966, because Henri (pronounce Aunri, h silent and said with a thick French accent). Good luck with your research ;)

continued....Henri Friesz (sorry, I spelled the artists name wrong above...)
It's Henri Friesz, but he is usually listed as Emile Othon Friesz, also as just Othon Friesz. Born 1979-1949.

Hello Ellisbee and thank you for your contribution. I am a little unsure about this as the signature does not look like Friesz and another signed piece I sourced online has a signature unlike the one on my pot. Never mind, will continue the search but thanks again for taking the time to comment and suggest, much appreciated. Alex
