Found this in the dirt next to an old chicken house I was tearing down.
Besides the obvious what is it and what colors was it and what were the letters made of.
The only markings on it is The City of Fort Worth. And they were of no help.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
It is heavy and 21" X 15" and 5" tall with 2 mount holes on each side and 2 holes where there were red refelctors.
Also the cast in STOP has little studs as if there was another sign attached to it.
    See photos.
    Thank you,
    Johnny

Johnny, first we don't need your info as we do all of our replys here. It looks like the stop plate from a drive-on car lift ramp, there would have been two, one for each ramp. these were made by several companies but Joyce is the one tha comes to mind....I will do some research and get back to you.

Hi there. This is what is sometimes referred to as a 'pavement signal'. They were used in the early 1900s on the roadways to warn motorists to stop (or keep right/slow down/etc.). They were designed to provide a difficult to ignore bump. They usually had a reflector or two and that is what those two round holes on the top are for.

I can dig up some old photos if you like.
